Despite the Spring Storm the Regina Biathlon Club's Open House was a Success!

Thanks to all who attended and most of all, our dedicated members for hosting a great event.

Even with the Spring storm we still had a great turnout for our open house. It was great to see lots of people coming to check out how much fun biathlon can be for the whole family. From the photos taken it looked like everyone had a good time. Early comments from participants was positive.

  • “The boys had a blast”
  • “We had such a great time at the Open House!”
  • “My son was so happy about his day with the group.”

As always, if you  have any questions about biathlon, or joining the Regina Biathlon Club, don't hesitate to reach out. We hope to see some new faces in the coming weeks!

Wednesday Night Race (March 21) - Hi All,

Tomorrow’s race will be the last Wednesday Night Race of the season. The race is going to be at Kinsmen. Sign on at 6:15 and race starts at 6:30.

The race is going to be a Skiathlon. The short race will be 2 laps (1 lap classic, 1 lap skate). The long race will be 4 laps (2 laps classic, 2 laps skate).

If you don’t have classic skis, you could just double pole the classic portion of the race.

If you don’t have skate skis, you could classic the entire race.

We don’t have any timers, so if you are interested in timing, please let me know.

Also, the wind-up is going to be on March 28th at 6:30 at Western Pizza on South Albert (3847 Albert St.). Food will be provided. At the wind-up we will reflect on the awesome season and we will also do the draw for the free set of poles donated by Fresh Air Experience.

Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation Provincial Championships March 10&11 held at QVN

20180311_132811.jpg

This past weekend athletes from all across Saskatchewan came down to the Qu'Appelle Valley Nordic club for the 2018 Biathlon Provincials. With the glut of snow that was dumped on Saskatchewan the week before the conditions at QVN were great. The folks at QVN put together an amazing event that was competitive and fun for all. As always the highlights from the athletes were the prize runs, chocolate milk, medals (cookie medals were a hit), and the music.

Day 1- the race was a Sprint format taking the athletes on three loops through the valley split up by 2 rounds in the range. Even with a bit of a breeze all athletes shot well and skied powerfully. The race was completed with RBC athletes taking home a variety of medals and all were cheered as they crossed the finish.

Day 2 - the final race was an individual relay format. Athletes had 3 loops to complete and 2 rounds of shooting in the range. But each time they entered the range they were allowed up to 3 additional shots to hit their five targets. The weather cooperated and many athletes were able to use these extra shots to their advantage and shot clean, which allowed them to ski past the penalty loop and down into the bowl.

It was a great two days with lots of sweat shed and many smiles. Thanks as always to all our Coaches, Parents and families that came to cheer our athletes on.
